A complete act with special effects, tricks, laughs, and surprises.
Excerpt from the introduction:
THIS IS NOT A BOOK OF MAGIC! Although the words have been clothed in bookish form, this is an act; a monologue, interspersed with touches of trickery that help to make it an entertaining routine.
"Once Upon a time" .... No, this is not a Fairy Tale! "Once Upon a Time" was the name of an act presented, in London (1929), by Oswald Williams and Mary Maskelyne. The magician told the young lady a story, and performed tricks with her purse, handkerchief, etc. The playlet ended when the magician married the girl and, in true story-book fashion, they lived happily for years 'n years.
After seeing this little skit, it occurred to me that something along the same line would make a novel "single" act. The act you are about to read is the result.
