Rare vintage Magic effect that you don’t come across very often.
Magicats was a Magictrix Exclusive by Billy Day and Eddie Burkes. Made In England, circa 1970’s.
Condition is very good with instructions.
Effect: In this delightful kiddies routine - you tell the story of a beautiful black cat - who wanted to help with your magic. Here he is boys and girls - his name is Presto......but Presto has never done any magic at all. So I've brought along my other black cat - his name is MAGICTRIX and he knows a lot of magic. Now Magictrix is going to show Presto how to do some magic. You see, we cover him up like so - then turn him around, Once, Twice and Three times - and we also have to say the magic word Abracadabra - and look MAGICTRIX has made himself into a lovely RED cat......lets all give him a big clap.
Now it is PRESTO'S turn to try. We cover him up with the magic bag - now let me see - he has to turn around once just like that....is that right......no......well maybe it was twice like that.....has he got it right this time....No....well he is only a learner Magic Cat isn't he......was it THREE times then like that. Jolly good - he got it right - give him a big clap......now I'll uncover him and he will be a lovely RED cat like Magictrix." Presto is uncovered BUT HE IS STILL BLACK....however you don't seem to notice. "There he is a lovely RED cat.......he isn't ....O'h yes he is......O'h dear...he is still black - he got it wrong. Well he is only just learning after all.
I'll let Magictrix show him again. Now Magictrix is Red - so we cover him with the bag...and he knows ...turn him once, twice and three times......say the magic word Abracadabra.....thats where we went wrong for Presto...we didn't say the magic word. Look Magictrix has changed back into a BLACK CAT again."
THIS CAN BE REPEATED MAGICTRIX CAN AGAIN TURN RED AND THEN BACK TO BLACK.
"Now I think Presto has the idea". Business of covering Presto - get the number of turns wrong as before - finally uncovering him to show he is now.......still black?.
"He still hasn't got it boys and girls - the magic is very difficult - the trouble is that No One Knows how Magictrix keeps changing colour".
The kiddies do - and soon announce that he is RED on one side and Black on the other side. You of course deny this - so the kiddies insist you turn him around to show the other side. After the usual denials and byplay you show that Magictrix is really BLUE on the other side ......because he has been standing in the cold so long waiting for Presto to do his magic.
Presto has got fed up of being a Magic Cat.........so he has turned on his other side INTO A COMICAL MAGICAL LOOKING RABBIT.
